BOOTHBAY

MAINE BOATING DESTINATION

The Boothbay region is an ideal Maine boating destination and home to Hodgdon Yacht Services. Originally founded as a fishing community, today there are endless activities, restaurants, and sights for visitors to enjoy. While known for being a summer spot, there are reasons to visit no matter the season.

The summer months bring beautiful sunny days that are made to be photographed. The area comes to life and is a bustling community centered around an active waterfront. From fishing trips, to kayaking adventures, and island exploration, there is no shortage of fun to be had. The region is home to dozens of restaurants – most of which serve up “the world’s best lobster roll,” fresh seafood, and spectacular waterfront views. The shopping, art galleries, farmer’s markets, and festivals make the area a perfect Maine boating destination.

With a significantly slower pace than the summertime, it’s hard to beat fall in the Boothbay region. Many year-round residents describe this time as their favorite season as the trees are bursting with red, orange, and yellow leaves. It’s an ideal time to take advantage of days that are still warm by sneaking in “one last boat ride,” a quiet picnic on the beach, or a hike on the area’s trails.

During the winter, downtown goes into hibernation mode. It’s hard to imagine that just a few months prior, the streets were buzzing with activity. Nonetheless, it’s one of the most magical times of year on the Maine coast. Seeing sea smoke rolling off of the water, lobster boats covered in snow after a big nor’easter, and ice on the banks of the salty ocean is something that only the lucky year-round residents get to truly experience.

After a few short months blanketed in snow, spring arrives and everything starts to wake back up. This is the time to get outside and see beautiful flowers blooming at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, or play a round of golf (whether you prefer mini golf or the real thing at the Boothbay Harbor Country Club). It’s also the time to get the boat out of the shed and into the water, so it’ll be ready to go on the first warm day!
