REFIT

OUR REFIT PROCESS

Process

The Southport Boatyard is set up to serve power and sail boats up to 75 feet with a maximum weight of 50 tons. Our planning for a major service project begins with working with the owner to assess the scope of work for the boat refit. In many cases, this process is initiated by the recommendations of a qualified marine surveyor. In other cases, it is simply the owner’s desire to undertake major boat refit work such as re-powering, new decking, or re-painting.

One of our experienced service managers will be assigned to work with the owner, owner’s representative, Captain, or surveyor in order to clearly articulate the scope of work on an informed basis for building the comprehensive work order estimate. It is common to involve the trade department heads in order to fully inform the work order process. Once the scope of services is estimated and agreed, our management team prepares and reviews the project plan which organizes the work, defines milestones, and establishes feedback procedures to keep the owner or owner’s team fully informed and involved in the decision making process that will assure a successful outcome during the boat refit.
