IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE WORK ON A 13 YEAR OLD HINCKLEY PICNIC BOAT
Espresso is a 1998 classic Hinckley Picnic Boat that the owners decided to give a substantial upgrade to over the course of this past year, with most of the work being done during the winter months.
The Hodgdon Yacht Services paint crew recently completed a complete hull and swim platform paint job using Jet Black Awlgrip. The mechanical systems team went to work on the Yanmar engine, disassembling and fully servicing the cooling system, which included the raw water pump, heat exchanger, and oil cooler. The corrosion was extensive and is something that isn’t visible unless the cooling system is taken apart. It’s highly recommended that this be done every three to five years. An occasional but noticeable odor coming from the head needed attention. To fix the problem, the systems team completely rebuilt the vacu-flush waste system and replaced the hoses and pumps. After 13 years, the toe rails and eyebrows were stripped down and ten coats of varnish were applied.
Espresso now looks stunning and is prepared for another season on the water!
